Tackling the Bathroom Cleaning

The Maids • Dec 23, 2013

Is your bathroom looking a bit grimy? Maybe it's time for a good thorough cleaning, whether by you or a housekeeping services team. It's a good idea to deep clean your bathroom every couple of months to rid it of nasty germs, bacteria, and mildew. These tips will help you get that deep cleaning ball rolling.

Tackle that toilet

Start with a cup of baking soda. Pour the baking soda into the bowl and let it sit a few minutes, and then scrub with a brush. For the tough mineral and lime stains, use a damp pumice stone. The pumice stone won't damage the bowl but is perfect for eliminating those nasty stains.

Keep your toilet brush clean to eliminate the buildup of bacteria. Run bleach over the bristles and let it sit a few minutes, next run clean water over it. Then clean the brush canister with warm soapy water.

Give the shower a deep cleaning

You can give the shower head a real good cleaning by soaking it overnight in vinegar. Get a zip lock bag and pour in enough vinegar to submerge the nozzle and tie it on. In the morning, run the water to rinse it. For plastic shower curtains, give them a super cleaning by running them through your washer with a couple old towels. The towels act as scrubbers and are a sure way to get rid of soap scum and mildew. To clean showers doors, make a mix of baking soda and a few drops of distilled vinegar. It will be thick and will stick. Let it set on the doors for an hour and then wipe off and rinse.

Cleaning the sink and faucet

Pouring white vinegar or baking soda down the drain then rinsing well with hot water will really get that sink clean. When wiping the faucet, try using disposable disinfecting wipes instead of rags that just move the bacteria around. Get that hard to clean areas around the narrow spaces of the faucet base and where the taps meet sink by using floss. Yes, floss. It is perfect for these tight areas that are often missed.

If you need a quick and thorough job in a pinch, consider the help of a housekeeping services team. Sometimes with such busy schedules, we all need a little outside help and housekeeping services are a perfect solution.
