Vinegar, What Else Can You Use it for?

Written by

Vinegar, or acetic acid, it's a transparent liquid found in any home across the Globe. Being mainly used for cooking or making pickles it can also have other uses in the home, most of you probably never thought about it! For example, vinegar can be used around the house in many ways, some of which in the following lines.

  • Destroying weeds in your garden! You can do this by carefully applying vinegar on weeds to burn them (be careful not putting any on the plants you wish to preserve).
  • You can clean your glass lenses! Vinegar is a great grease remover, just put a drop on each lens and clean it with clean wipes.
  • Roll-On deodorant stains. Being one of the problems in using these solid deodorants, vinegar, along with some water and detergent can be a very effective stain remover.
  • Car cleaner! I know how it sounds but bear with me, vinegar is excellent when it comes to removing dust or solid dirt stuck on your car. Just get a nice clean cloth and soak it with vinegar than rub the car with it. It will look shinier and cleaner than ever before!
  • Freshen up your vegetables! If you have older vegetables with withered parts and you don't want to waste too much then just make a solution out of water and vinegar and then wash the vegetables with it.
  • Sweat stains? No more! If your favorite clothes are stained with sweat just make 3 parts water to one part vinegar and clean your clothes with it. It your make those stains disappear!
  • Ant remover? Yes! Ants don't like vinegar at all and that's why you can make a very good barrier around your house if you put drops of vinegar on the doorsteps and windows of your house.
  • Vinegar enriches the soil for plant growth. Because some plants prefer acid soil, you just have to put a few drops in the flower pot but, be careful. Not all plants like acid soil, so study carefully in what kind of soil it grows better.
  • Are you a smoker? Yes? Then you must have smoking stains on your nails. Vinegar can remove these easily. Apply one or two drops of vinegar on each nail and rub with some cotton. These stains should go away after a few good rubs.
  • Do you have jars that smell weird? I know I do. Vinegar can remove these smells if you clean them thoroughly with vinegar than wash with soap and rinse with a lot of water. This will make your favorite jar not have any smell from now on without using expensive smell removers.
